The Farnworth & District Crown Green Bowling League has been run successfully entirely by volunteers for over 35 years

The club based in Cawdor Street, Farnworth, Bolton, Greater Manchester supports 20 teams in two divisions, with around 360 men and lady players over the age of 60.

Like many other sporting organisations the club was badly affected by the Covid pandemic and in 2021 had to reduce team numbers down from 12 to 10. The club is aiming to boost its numbers back up to pre-pandemic levels and recruit another 60 or so players to join in this brilliant sport.

Bowling is a fantastic way to combat loneliness and is great for exercise, and camaraderie. It generally improves your sense of wellbeing. Many of the players are still enjoying playing well into their eighties.

Six clubs across Farnworth, Kearsley, Walkden, Little Lever, Little Hulton, Swinton and Boothstown will be offering taster sessions in Spring 2023. This is a great opportunity to discover more about the game of bowls. There is plenty of scope for people to sign up.

Anyone interested should contact to book a taster session and find details of their nearest club. Come and join them!
